A place for kids to shine
YPT Theatre Arts Academy teaches the fundamentals of dramatization and story structure, while instructing older children in acting, performance, musical theatre and stagecraft and production. Classes — tailored to specific age ranges, from 3 to 17 — are designed to engage
students in ways that are interactive, lively and empowering. They work with classic and contemporary stories, brainstorming collaboratively with accomplished instructors to craft their own narratives and develop interpretive and performance skills.
Beyond our home base at Fort Mason, YPT offers on-site theatre classes at Bay Area schools. Programming is tailored to the needs of each school and may be extracurricular. YPT also makes its space at Fort Mason available to schools to rehearse and present productions.
Winter/Spring 2025 Classes
Classes begin the week of February 3, meeting once a week after school, and run through the week of May 16 with breaks February 17-21, March 3-9 and April 14-25. Our location is in Building D of Fort Mason Center, 3rd floor, in the Southside Theater.
All registrations must be completed online. After registering, you should automatically receive a confirmation email. Any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@ypt.org.
Please note that we do not offer trials, due to the popularity of our classes, and that all tuition includes a non-refundable $200 deposit. If your student is unable to attend a class, please let your teacher know! On the very rare occasion that a class is under-enrolled and we have to cancel it, you’ll have the option of changing to another class, receiving a credit or reimbursement in full (only because we are responsible for the cancellation). Please understand that this is the only time reimbursement will be given.
YPT’s Stephanie Holmes likes to have children create their own unique characters and adventures.
